Trader Vic's Polynesian Themed Restaurant Opening in SH!
Restaurants with Polyneisan themes…something I remember seeing
on TV as a kid in the 70’s. Always seemed mysterious and only rich
people went there. And then once, while in college at Berkeley, I went
to this restaurant by the Bay called Trader Vics. It was billed a luxury
restaurant with consistant theme and service, but what I remember about
this place was that it was a fun and welcoming place.
Fast forward to 2006, I am in Shanghai now and have not thought anything
about this for so long and along comes a Press Release for the new opening
of Trader Vic's in Shanghai! And the memories came rolling in.
This new Trader Vic's takes advantage of the new growing middle

opportunity here in China and seems excited to open their flagship Trader
Vic's on Fengyang Rd near Nanjing West Rd... Read

Regarded as the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years, it is the waterfront area of Pu Xi (West City) that faces the newer part of Shanghai - Pu Dong (East City). Walking along the Bund at night is a fascinating site, as the entire PuDong skyline is illuminated, including the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and the Jin Mao Tower (2nd tallest building in the world). Directly across Zhongshan Road are many different types of architectures from Old Shanghai, including: Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism and Renaissance.

>Located at the People's Square, the city's heart, the Shanghai Grand Theatre has become a representative building in Shanghai. The building seems to be made almost entirely from glass and the reflections of artificial and natural light are simply stunning. It hosts major national and international concerts and performances.
