Egyptian themed cinema. IMAX is available here which makes it infinitely more appealing. Tickets are reasonable and they have an ice cream shop right by the traditional concession stand. Monday-Thursday, expect to pay between 40 and 80rmb. Friday-Sunday, tickets run from 100-150rmb.
Past and present meet in the former clubhouse of the Shanghai racetrack. The white, open spaces of the museum hold several different exhibits, often incorporating past and present in both Chinese and Western art. It also hosts Shanghai's Biennale.
This dazzling, French-designed structure is located to the northwest of the People's Square. The roof is an inverted arc that resembles a treasure bowl, and is said to symbolize Shanghai's open and progressive spirit. Its immense chandelier sparkles across the entire square, while the ''Art Muse'' fresco by Ting Shaokuang adorns the lobby.
This centrally located, pottery-shaped building houses the best collection of traditional Chinese art in the country. Permanent exhibits of china, jade, calligraphy, and pottery are always worth a look.
