Egyptian themed cinema. IMAX is available here which makes it infinitely more appealing. Tickets are reasonable and they have an ice cream shop right by the traditional concession stand. Monday-Thursday, expect to pay between 40 and 80rmb. Friday-Sunday, tickets run from 100-150rmb.
This cultural office regularly offers free movie screenings in the multi-media hall of independent and popular Italian films. They also organize other events including concerts, conferences, exhibitions and lectures in order to promote cultural exchange between Italy and China.
The cinema itself if hard to find, hidden behind a top floor anything&everything market. Six small screening rooms. Relatively small screens with ok sound. Whole place is dated and has a bit of a smell from the restaurants one floor down. 3D tickets are 100rmb. Otherwise, ticket prices seem to depend on the popularity of the movie, ranging from 100-50rmb. Tickets are 50% off everyday after 10pm and the whole day on Tuesdays. 60rmb for two people at 9pm every Friday. Popcorn is sweet.
This cinema in Grand Gateway, has eleven screening rooms. No IMAX, but they do have stadium seating (their largest room holds 350), appropriately large screens and good surround sound. Their VIP theater is the smallest with only 32 seats, the seats are leather and recline. Welcome to first class. This is the largest cinema in Southeast Asia, and venue for the Shanghai International Film Festival.
Cinema shows English and Chinese movies. Mall movie theater, with lots of jewel toned velvet decor. Tickets are 100rmb, 110rmb for 3D. Tuesday, tickets are half price before 7pm. Wednesday is Ladies' Night (guy purchases 1 full price ticket, girl gets in free). Saturday and Sunday tickets are half price before noon. Sweet and salty popcorn, large is 28rmb.
Cinema showing both Chinese and foreign movies. Mall movie theater. Nice staff, English speakers available to help laowai. Ticket prices depend on time of day: morning 30/40rmb, afternoon 70/80rmb and evening 80/90rmb. Tuesday and Wednesday tickets are half price. Sweet popcorn only.
Showing educational films and documentaries, the cinema is inside the Science and Technology Museum. Tickets run from 20-40rmb.
