Kid Sports in Shanghai
Want to get your kid started on the ice? Join the Shanghai Thunderbirds out at the Songjiang University Sports Complex's rink to play with a competitive traveling team that practices multiple times a week. Players range in age from 11-15 years old and the team holds tryouts every season.
HappyValley fills a void for both local and visiting adrenaline junkies. With over a hundred attractions the park is a legitimate option if you are bored with Shanghai's club scene. The most popular ride is a monster wooden roller coaster strangely named 'Fireball' (top speeds 56mp/h).
Gymboree classes are an ideal way to burn off some extra energy. Held at a number of venues around Shanghai, this educational centre offers classes in music, art, fitness and baby signing for children from 0 – 5 years. Classes last 45 minutes and can be taken in blocks of 12, 18 or 24 weeks.
Great play spaces are hard to come by in Pudong. If in need, drop by Lollipop on the third floor of the Laya Plaza, across the street from Thumb Plaza. The play space is equipped with trampolines and other fun, original games and tops. Our personal favorite is the enormous ball pit. Whip down the slide at lightning speed and plunge right in.
This theme park bills itself as an edutainment town where near life-size sets allow children ages 3-15 to play grown-up and take on town roles like doctor, reporter, pilot, baker or detective. Within their own self-contained community, kids may discover their future careers or just a new way to have fun.
Daycare for toddlers up to 3 years old, offering half and full day programs with flexible hours and an array of activities including music, arts & crafts, coloring, writing, counting and story telling. After school and weekend programs are open to all ages and the staff is open to special arrangements upon request, such as weekend child care and glam makeover parties.
This volunteer-based non-profit organization is committed to providing a safe, fun, and progressive learning environment to develop recreational and competitive youth soccer players. .
