A spacious former warehouse turned venue, Mesa's Continental menu has suffered from an inconsistent kitchen. Still, it remains a firm expat favorite, though it's probably more for its excellent second-floor terrace and lounge and the well-done cocktails served in both. Sunday afternoons and the weekday 4-8pm happy hour are prime times.
The original Minhang brewhouse offers good American pub grub, bar games and at least three of their micro-brews on tap at all times. A location near the international schools and racquet clubs loved by Shanghai's expat community and kid-friendly dishes makes this an excellent spot for families.
This American-themed restaurant with a tie-dye clad wait staff and jam band music has killer Cincinnati-style chili, a variety of hot dogs and sandwiches and a few solid Mexican offerings. Smoothies and milkshakes round out the eclectic menu which is sure to satisfy the most ravenous of appetites.
